First Grade
Introduction:
It is our goal as first grade teachers to establish solid work and study habits while encouraging the joy of learning. First grade is a year of many transitions as your child becomes an independent worker, thinker, and citizen. Our main goal is to get your child independently reading while laying a strong foundation in mathematics strategies and thinking. Whole group and small group instruction are used in both language and math. We use Class Dojo so that you can partner with us and monitor your child's behavior. Instructional routines are often paused to provide experiences that bring social studies and science to life. We may be biased, but we think first grade is your child's most important year of school. The growth during the first grade year is amazing! We are excited to share in the experience with you.
