Welcome!

I love teaching in the community in which I live!  Our family moved to the Kingston Springs area in 1998 and all 3 of our children have come through this excellent school.  I graduated in 1994 from Lipscomb University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and from Austin Peay State University in 2016 with a Master's degree in Reading.  I am a certified reading specialist and am passionate about helping all children learn to read.  I especially love working with children who are struggling to read.  I have taught first grade at KSES since 2006 with an additional six years of teaching middle school.  My husband works in the IT department for UPS.  My oldest daughter Katie is a sophomore Chemical Engineering major at Tennessee Tech.  She is a member of their marching band.  My middle daughter Beth is a sophomore at Harpeth High.  Her focus is health science and she is a member of the Band of Blue and Model United Nations/Youth in Government.  My youngest son Joshua is 6th grader at Harpeth Middle and played on the middle school football team.  He also plays basketball and baseball in the local rec leagues.  We are active members with the youth program at Pegram church of Christ.  When I am not driving the "mom taxi" or working on my classroom, I enjoy baking, cooking, and decorating cakes.  Our family loves to camp and we have a beloved dog named Penny.  I am blessed to be an educator because it my profession, hobby, and passion all rolled into one.  I call my students the Mighty Minds because that is what I truly believe.  First graders are amazing!
