Music

Welcome!! So far music class has been off to a great start this year! Our main focus so far for all grades has been working on beat vs rhythm and learning notated rhythm notes. As the year goes on, we will continue to learn about music by expanding our attention to instruments, melody, and different musical genres. Each grade will also work on their musical programs that will be performed throughout the year, starting off with 3rd grade for Veterans' Day, and 2nd grade for Christmas. In the springtime - 1st grade, Kindergarten, and lastly 4th grade for their Graduation. Throughout the year, I aim to expose students to new types of music that they have not experienced before, and to foster a love for music that they can hopefully carry forward into their future lives.

If you have any questions, please reach out to me at [email protected]

Thank you!

Virtual Learning

Students can access music lessons through MusicPlay Online - an online music program that I use in class. The link is available below, along with the log-in instruction. Here, students are welcome to explore and play with some musical games and songs on their own if they choose. Some suggestions to search could be:

Units: Alphabet Songs and Activities, Bach's Fight for Freedom, Beethoven Lives Upstairs, Carnival of the Animals, History of Jazz, Instruments of the Orchestra, Peter and The Wolf, Skipping Songs, Storybooks, The Nutcracker

Games: Rhythm Racing, Space Music Adventure, Instrument Bingo, Trivia Wheel, Which Rhythm Do You Hear, Beat or Rhythm, Loud or Quiet, Smooth or Separated, Fast or Slow

For Kindergarten and 1st grade,
I have also posted some of their songs for their music programs if they would like to listen to them at home. I have created "music videos" to the songs on Canva. In order for the slides to play as a video, click the "present" tab at the top right of the page, selected "autoplay" and then click "present" and it will begin to play. Pictures are available (with badly drawn circles haha!) showing what to select.
